Model: Marshall

Comment: This was my very first body painting. It was my final assignment for a two day body painting workshop back in May of 2009. If you look closely, you'll notice that the shirt is painted on, too!

Photographer: Aaron Burg / Latent Image Photography

Comment: This was a photo shoot for the inside cover of a CD of love songs. I was inspired by a wonderful artist from Russia and her amazing one-stroke flower and leaf technique.

Comment: This was the back of the model from the Dallas body painting competition preliminaries. We were hoping to get into the top 25 and move on to the finals. We ended up placing 8th in the competition. Thank you Ffjorren and Judi!!

Addiction
Addiction
Model: Ffjorren

Photographer: Margaret Wolf

Assistant: Judi Peterson

Comment: This was an entry into a body painting competition. The theme was "tears and fears." I decided to do my body painting on the painful subject of addiction - a subject I feel is the source of many tears and fears. The thorny, black vine twisting up her body represents the way addiction strangles and chokes the life and soul out of its victims. Not only strangling and choking the poor soul that faces the addiction, but out of everyone who cares and loves him or her. Thanks to lovely Ffjorren (model) for portraying the pain of addiction with such poise and beauty. Thanks also to my wonderful assistant, Judi Peterson.

Model: Christina Sherie

Photographer: Connie Barding / The Photographic Art Studio

Assistant: Lynn Takacs

Comment: This was painted for a gala at a wonderful gallery in Alameda, CA. Their theme for the month was heroes and villains. It was so much fun to go out to dinner with the evil queen after the gallery gala!

That's No Moon
That's No Moon
Model: Rainey

Photographer: Connie Barding / The Photographic Art Studio

Comment: Rainey's husband is a HUGE Star Wars fan. He would have named the baby Chewbacca if she had let him. Luckily, they had a girl. :0) We decided to paint the Death Star from Star Wars on her (1 week before due date) belly. It was such a fun, special and personal gift for him to open Christmas morning!

Insight
Insight
Model: Jesse

Photographer: Personal Photo

Comment: This is a real "eye catcher." I painted and took this picture at a monthly body painting jam session at the Frank Bette Center For The Arts. The theme for that month was "insight." So I decided to take it literally.

Bride

Model: Ffjorren

Photographer: Connie Barding / The Photographic Art Studio

Comment: This is the fourth time I've had the opportunity to paint Ffjorren. She's a pleasure to work with and an amazing model. Of course, Connie is an incredible photographer and I always look forward to working with her. She has a great eye and is truly an artist.

If you or anyone you know will be getting married, this is the perfect personal gift for the bride-to-be to give her groom on their wedding day!

Model: Merlé

Comment: Merlé is from the Philippines. I painted the Philippine flag swimsuit, the plumeria armband and the plumeria backdrop. She gave this to her hubby as a very special gift.

Sealed With A Kiss 1
Model: Adrienne Glenn

Photographer: Connie Barding / The Photographic Art Studio

Comment: Here's something Connie and I put together for a Valentine's promotional. We wanted to also show that one body painting can look completely different with changing the backdrop, props, etc. One has more of a pin-up feel, while the other is more boudoir. Thanks also to our beautiful model. She proves that beauty does not only come in a size zero. She is absolutely gorgeous.

Give Till It Hurts 1
Give Till It Hurts 1
Model: Ffjorren

Photographer: Geoff Faulkner

Comment: This was the first time I painted Ffjorren. It was for a fundraiser for an art gallery here in Tracy, CA. I put the word "art" on the gravestone to let everyone know that if you don't give to the arts.....it will die. The sign on her back (held with an actual nail) reads "give till it hurts."

Plein Air
Plein Air
Model: Rainey

Photographer: Charlie Lucke

Comment: Plein air is a French expression which means "in open air." It is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. I painted the little artist easel to show that the artist was painting what he/she saw. Notice her "cigarette" is a paintbrush and she's wearing a French beret. Oui....oui.

Key To My Heart
Key To My Heart
Model: Kyrstin

Photographer: Connie Barding / The Photographic Art Studio

Comment: This was a lovely gift for Kyrstin's husband for Valentine's Day. Notice she is holding a skeleton key in her hand. We made this into a beautiful card with a skeleton key inside. The card read, "You hold the key to my heart." Doesn't that give you the warm fuzzies?

Tiny Bubbles
Tiny Bubbles
Model: Merlé

Photographer: Personal Photo

Comment: I asked Merlé to model for me in Vegas for my first body painting competition. Since Merlé is a hula dancer, I thought it would be fun to do a bit of a salute to Don Ho and his famous song, "Tiny Bubbles."

Nakid Melissa

Comment: These models were painted for an event I did at the Exotic, Erotic event at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. It was for a clothing company called Nakid Clothing (they spell naked that way). I painted clothing onto the models at their booth and it definitely had the desired result. Their booth was VERY noticed.

Comment: She is the queen of the briar patch. Look out rabbits and bears!

Out There
Out There
Model: Raven Le Faye

Photographer: Ronald Nelson

Comment: I just felt like doing something really "out there". Something that doesn't make very much sense, but is fun to look at. Jellyfish are one of the many strange and bizarre creatures that must be from another world. From somewhere out there. I love the way Raven is posing in this photo. Like maybe she is contemplating the same thing.

A's Fan
A's Fan
Model: Tanya

Photographer: Connie Barding / The Photographic Art Studio

Comment: Tanya decided to give her hubby this fun, sexy gift for his birthday. Lucky guy! (He's a huge Oakland A's fan, of course). I thought it would be fun to take three of our favorite photos and make it look like a team. Connie worked her magic and I love the results! Hope he did, too :0) Thanks to Tanya for being such a good "sport".

Comment: What man wouldn't love a personal gift like this? Louisa is gorgeous and Connie is truly an artist :0)

Monkey On His Back
Monkey On His Back
Model: Marshall

Photographer: Ronald Nelson

Comment: I thought it would be fun to take the expression, "monkey on his back" and bring it to life with a cartoon. Marshall is always so fun to work with. He stands still while being painted (much appreciated) and then hams it up and has fun for the camera after. Thanks to Ron for the cool photos!

Julia Butterfly Hill
Julia Butterfly Hill
Model: Janel Parra

Photographer: Ronald Nelson

Assistant: Lynn Takacs

Comment: The painting pays tribute to one of my heroes, Julia Butterfly Hill. I've read her book, Legacy of Luna, at least a few times, and am moved and inspired each and every time. I recently had the honor of meeting her in person. She signed my book, and gave me a great big "tree hugger" hug.

Vineyard Ringmaster
Vineyard Ringmaster
Model: Ffjorren

Photographer: Paul Lomolino

Comment: This was painted live at a super-fun event at Oak Farm Vineyards in Lodi, CA. The theme of their Halloween event was old world circus. I thought I'd do a grape/ringmaster.

Model: Janel Parra

Photographer: Sunset Studios (Jake Jacobs)

Comment: I was selected as a featured artist for a RAW - Natural Born Artist show in October 2012. We managed to finish this in spite of several disastrous set backs (including the backdrop blowing off my truck on the freeway and shattering into pieces)! So much thanks to my assistant Marshall, my wonderful model Janel, and friend and photographer Jake!

Night And Day Of The Dead
Model: Rainey

Photographer: Marshall Lomolino

Comment: Herdez Brand salsa had a Day of the Dead face painting competition and this was my entry. It was so much fun to spend a couple hours just on a face. I usually do full body paintings, and usually can’t spend so much time on tiny details in one area.

Medusa
Medusa
Model: Athena

Photographer: Paul Lomolino

Comment: Halloween 2014.... What a blast!!! Athena came to me with the idea of transforming her into Medusa. We both worked on the costume and props. It was my first time applying a prosthetic brow and working with my airbrush and stencils. I learned a ton on this one and had sooooo much fun!

Sailor's Dream 1

Hatchery
Hatchery
Model: Rainey

Photographer: Paul Lomolino

Comment: This was the first time using a bald cap. It was a large cap – probably made for a man’s head. I had to fuss with it quite a bit, and it was a hot mess in the back. Luckily, we were only shooting the front. I show people this photo and joke that the model shaved her head (and cut off her ear) for the shoot. Some almost believe the shaved head part, but realize I’m kidding with the ear :0)

Blossom

Model: Nomi Mars

Photographer: Michael Pisias

Comment: This was Michael’s baby. He came up with the concept and put together the props, model, studio, etc. I had the luxury of simply showing up and painting some flowers :0)

Nomi and Michael were an absolute joy to work with.
